Two Birds With a Single Stone

Finally a way to be a Cheap-ass Bastard and a political activist! Apple's iTunes Music Store has free copies of the 9-11 Commission Hearings in MP3 format. (Link goes to Staff Statement No. 5: Diplomacy (3/23/04) but there are many others).

Jason Kottke has created an HTML version of the 9/11 Commission Executive Summary with permalinks for each paragraph for easy linking and copy/paste.

The U.S. Government Printing Office offers a (not free) hard copy: stock number 041-015-00236-8. This will cost $8.50 plus $4.75 for shipping, checks and most major credit cards accepted. Order by phone at 866-512-1800 or on-line, or by mail from Superintendent of Documents, PO Box 371954, Pittsburgh, PA 15250-7954.

Be Informed as they say over in Homeland Security.

Depression-era Style anti-Bush Policy Movie

A "Best Animation" finalist in MoveOn.org's "Bush in 30 Seconds" contest has been expanded to a full seven minute short cartoon that tells the rest of the story of Melvin McBean and his family's struggle to make ends meet in Bush's economy.

See the original 30 second clip as well as two sizes of the long version here.

Is Cartoon Network hiring? The bio of the creators says "they had never made a film before," which is even more amazing, IMO.

Be sure to read about the limited DVDs available of this short.

Bay Area Free Wi-Fi Wireless Hotspots

Serving up free wi-fi hotspots to the San Francisco Bay Area is the job of a new blog found at www.Bayareafreefi.com.

Some great review writing- you'll want to check out these places even if you do manage to leave the laptop at home for once.

If you are like me and won't pay for Broadband, here's a way to get high speed for at most the price of a meal. Check it out and get outside when you get on-line.

Everything and The Oceanic Sink

Looks like the missing CO2 that comes out the back of your car and from power-plants isn't missing any more. In the latest issue of the journal Science, 2 reports show that it's going into the ocean. This is increasing pH and interfering with shell production.

How soon with George W have his Lysenkoist 'science' team label this as more Junk Science?

NY Post: Today in Alternate History

Kerry's Choice
Dem Picks Gephardt as VP Candidate

So said the cover of the New York Post, a Rupert Murdoch's News Corp
property (which is openly supportive of Republican President Bush).

According to a Reuters article, Post rival Daily
News "sent a case of champagne to Post editors and a note, 'Congratulations
on your front page. Have a nice day,' with a smiley face.

The Post has taken down the article, but not before someone posted it to Usenet.

Who Exterminated the Exterminators

The Register reports the BBC has confirmed the lack of Daleks in the new Doctor Who TV series due to failure to reach terms regarding editorial control with the estate of the late Terry Nation.

The new TV series should debut in 2005 in the UK - no word on when it will reach US shores.

What the Well-Dressed Will Be Wearing in November

Great T-shirts that will help us take back our country. Visit the Designs on the White House store and order your soft-yet-durable, 100% cotton, made-in-the-USA, banner of freedom today! Buy them for family and friends! Surreptitiously slip one on when talking to your local swing voter! Wear them proudly this summer while traveling through battleground states!

You have two options to buy shirts: Buy a shirt now from CafePress, or pre-order a silk-screened shirt. Silkscreening enables us to produce DOTWHO’s winningest, most pro-Kerryesque designs on color shirts. The images on screened shirts will be sharper and last longer. What’s the catch? The catch is that we have to print in bulk, so it might a few weeks before you get your shirt (but still before either of the conventions). Pre-order now and save $5 per shirt!

Here is one of the Best Retro Shirt winners:

Stamp Design for the People

Fun, DIY postage stamps from 'cross the pond. Almost worth going to the UK just to write some cards and letters to the gang back home.

I suppose adding eyes and such to US postage would be vandalism?
