EvolutionTV - Digital Video Recorder for your Mac now tops the list of the things I shouldn't be spending money on (~US$280) but just might.
Why:
MPEG-4 (able to directly moved to iMovie) and DivX hardware compression.
Comes with fully featured software enabling you to watch and record TV, schedule recordings, access online TV guides.
Thanks to its built-in video compression hardware, EvolutionTV will let you store hours of TV programs on a single DVD. Or load tons of movies to my PowerBook.
