Nation Zoo Picks a Panda Name

Panda cupcakes, originally uploaded by my little mochi.

More than 200,000 votes were cast for the following names:

* Hua Sheng ("China Washington" and "magnificent")
* Sheng Hua ("Washington China" and "magnificent")
* Tai Shan ("peaceful mountain")
* Long Shan ("dragon mountain")
* Qiang Qiang ("strong, powerful")

On October 17, when the cub was 100 days old, the winning name was announced: Tai Shan.
