Just a quick peek at a picture I starred on Flicker: Matilda and Brighton Ferris Wheel
My iPhone was resting on the wet sand and was kept safe from the elements by a waterproof case called the DriSuit, it gives you access to the buttons and touch screen whilst the iPhone water. It's pretty awesome because you can use the volume up button as a shutter button which not all water proof cases allow. You can read my full review of this nifty little device on my blog here.
