Looking at the USPS Domestic Postage Calculator Mailpiece for a Square Envelope page you find:
The minimum size for a square envelope is 5 x 5 inches.
Square letters weighing 1 ounce or less are subject to a $0.12 nonmachinable surcharge.
So don't just stick 2 first class stamps on these letters kids!
Bonus CAB moment: While walking back from the Post Office I found 15 cents on the ground!
