T-Mobile Rebates (How Rebate SHOULD Be Done)

[T-mobile, rebates, Cheap-ass-bastards]

In this morning's post:

Thank you for participating in T-Mobile's rebate program!

Your submission for Retail Upgrade Rebate has met the service
requirements.  You should be receiving your request in the mail within the
next 2 - 3 weeks.

If you would like to track the status of your rebate submission please
visit us at: www.tmobilerebates.com.

If you are going to do a mail-in rebate, this is certainly the easiest money I have ever made.

My story does not have a happy ending. I bought a side kick in July and mailed the rebate info off on 7/9/07. Well what do you have to do to get your money. I bought the over priced phone with some reprieve that at least I'd get back $50. Okay, so they make you go through all this crap (thinking that you are not going to do it) to mail the form back in and get your money back. Oh yeah, don't forget the 8 weeks you have to wait inorder to get it. But no, this is the killer, after about 6 weeks, I received a letter saying that I would not receive a rebate because I didn't qualify. By then, I guess they were counting on me losing the original paper work or not having made a copy. In-tee-way, I called we realized T-Mobile made a mistake, okay now it's September 27th. I went online to track my rebate just to make sure that everything was on the right track and wouldn't you know it - the screen, even with thte new tracking number routed back to the old info that said I didn't qualify. I held on the phone to speak to a rep and she didn't know why the computer said what it said. She saw it perfectly fine on her end. She did add that it was processing and it could take up to 6 weeks before a decision is made. So, let me get this straight. I waited 6 weeks for them to tell me I don't qualify when I did, they fixed the mistake but I can't tell on my end, plus it'll be another 6 weeks before I know for sure. By then, if properly invested the interest on that $50 would be more than the $50. This is the craziest thing I ever heard of and I think it is ridiculous the way the do business. And now that I know how this works, they will never have to worry about my business again!

This sounds like exactly verbatim what happened to me. They are still up to the same tricks.

1.5 years ago T-Moble did a simmilar thing to my wife, she gave up and figured the $50 was not worth the hassle. (thats exactly what T-Mobile wanted). After I recently bought a phone they said they made a mistake (6 weeks later) then I am waiting to hear the next excuse.

This company is banking on people not being persistant and then T-mobile can keep the rebates they promised the customers.

This is my story, too! I am on my fourth attempt to have them resolve my continual disqualification. Each attempt is a six week process. Mind you I have followed their protocol to the tee. It is always a misunderstanding. This is it. On the 9th of February I will receive my rebate. I am not holding my breath. This far into it it is not the $50.00; it is the principal. There are too many websites and blogs for this to be a coincidence. I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB. Stay tuned.

T-mobile rebates is a criminal organization. They make millions of dollars each year by stalling and denying rebate claims. When you get tried of calling and writing, they keep the money. You could try Better Business Bureau, BBB; Federal Trade Commission, FTC; Federal Communication Commission FCC; etc. But, the goverment is well aware. The BBB gives T-mobile an "F". This has been going on for a very long time, and they have not done squat. Maybe some of them are on the payroll. My advise is to pay the money and break the contract. Find another company. But, if you are going to stay with T-mobile until the contract expires, when you write or call the employees, try to get them to be whistle blowers. The only way I could see this ending is if some employee either through conscience or just getting pissed at some manager decides to talk to the feds. It might be the only way to get their top management behind bars.

The next time that you are complaining about the rebate, why don't you actually take the time to READ the rebate from. You would be surprised how many idots are out there..
And here's a tip if you recieve a letter twice and all the correct info was processed twice, then ask to speak to a manager and they'll over ride the system for you! I should know I GET YELLED AT EVERY DAY FOR SOMETHING I DIDN'T DO!

After 7 months of email, phone calls, and emails I was ready to give up but wrote the BBB, FTC, and my state's attorney general. 3 days later, BBB tells me they forwarded my complaint to Tmobile and the same day, Tmobile emails me that, "Your rebate had been denied due to a processing error. Your request has been resubmitted for processing. Your new tracking number for this rebate is..."

Unbelievable! They repeatedly told me I didn't qualify because 1) I didn't send in the original box panel. Which I did but they claim to have not received. 2) That the offer has already expired. Only because they kept denying that they received my original submission and kept tellin me to resubmit until the offer finally expired.

So if you're in the twilight zone of Tmobile rebates, just write to the BBB immediately!

Only time will tell if I actually get my rebate check. They'll probably say they sent it but it was apparently lost in the mail.

If u are denied a rebate, if u call cust care, they will research and adjust the price of the rebate to ur account. Oh, and by the way this is a manufacturer rebate. Not rocket science people.
