Another Blog-Worthy Photo From the Good People on Flickr

Just a quick peek at a picture I starred on Flicker: 1963 (M3) Bulova Accutron 214H RR approved w turtle lugs_front

My father's watch. 100% original. I found it in a drawer over the weekend, popped in a new battery, tapped it at the 9 o'clock side to start the tuning fork humming and - Whoop - it started right up! Listening to the hum it makes is wild. It's been unused since he died over 20 years ago. This beauty is 50 years old! The M3 engraved on the rear of the stainless steel case dates it to 1963. It made my day to find out my dad bought something so advanced that it's technology was used on the manned moon missions later that same decade. The cutting edge Accutron was the world's first electronic watch - the equivalent of a 1st generation iPod Nano today. Disruptive technology with understated elegance. The "B Case" is also nicknamed as having 'turtle lugs'. There is a 5mm scratch in the side of the crystal on the outside of the 12 - 15 minute marks, but it's barely visible when viewed straight on. The face is ever so slightly yellowed, or maybe it just needs a good internal cleaning. The hour and minute hands are a bright iridescent dark blue and the smooth sweeping seconds hand is red. These photos were hastily shot outside in highly overcast weather and before I've even had time to dust it off. I'll polish it soon and take more time with the "after" shots. The band is the original Speidel Twist-O-Flex that came with it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T86A8YFs-qo
