lay me down to sleep

Every time we travel we always like to compare the room, the bed and rest we get to our own mattress set at home and to some all of the other trips we have taken in the past. Some American hotels make promised about the sleep you will get: Starwood promises a 'heavenly bed' (from their site: a custom designed pillow-top mattress set, a cozy down blanket, three crisp sheets ranging in thread count from 200 to 250, a comforter, duvet and five plush pillows)while the Marriott chain after a year or more of research started their “Thinking of You” scheme - a seven inch mattress with plush quilting on the top and sides, a down comforter with duvet cover, lightweight down blanket and Down Surround® pillows.

Still I would have to say the best two so far have been in the London Savoy Hotel (now a part of the Fairmont chain) and in Ireland, the Hotel Kilkenny, maybe it was because we were so tired but I think it was the sizes of the room and the expanse of the bed itself. We liked our Irish Republic bed so much when we got home we upgraded our own mattress, albeit remaining at only a queen sized bed.

Shopping was an OK experience, I wish we had know to look at the beds at Time 4 Sleep, particularly the Vienna ottoman bed (with the space-saving ingenuity and in-built storage space with a minimal foot print). I can sleep on just about anything and about anywhere but not so much the others in our family. Don't know if it is me, the cat or a combination thereof, but I almost feel guilty about getting the better of the two's night's sleep. I do know our bedroom, when clean, sometimes could pass for a hotel room which does make both of us happy. And if you are not happy with a bed or a bedroom, why not make the changes you need to and make it so. You'll be a happier person for having done so, trust me.
