Anchor Steam Brewery Sold!
In today's paper: 72 year old Fritz Maytag, the washing machine heir
who many say launched the microbrewery movement when he bought a
struggling San Francisco brewery in 1965, has sold Anchor Brewing Co.
to a pair of Bay Area entrepreneurs who say they plan to preserve and
expand the iconic brand.

No terms were disclosed for the sale of the 70-person Mariposa Street
brewery and distillery but Maytag will stay on to serve as chairman
emeritus.
Let's hope this works out better than the Schafenberger sale!
